ABOUT ME
Savvy Thompson is a theatre & film actress based in upstate South Carolina. Born & raised in Charleston, SC, she was originally drawn to the stage at a young age; performing clown, improv, & puppetry in a travelling troupe. A 2020 graduate of SC School of the Arts with a BFA in Acting, she plans to attend graduate school to pursue her MFA. In her free time, she enjoys painting, podcasts, reading, & film. Savvy is versatile in many aspects of theatre, both technically & artistically. While she is primarily as a theatre performer, she also works as a dialect coach, director, and stage manager. Savvy teaches both private dialect lessons & audition coaching at the request of her former actors when she can, & is looking to expand further in coaching fellow actors & vocalists. She is extremely passionate about her work as a theatre artist, strives to learn from every show, & create something new with every theatre experience.
UPCOMING PROJECTS
Savvy recently finished a run of Godspell: The Musical as Celisse with Centre Stage Theatre in Greenville, SC. Since it's closing, she has been primarily doing dialect coach work. Her coaching can be seen in The Market Theatre's Shrek: The Musical (Scottish) as well as in their teaching series later in the year. She will be teaching a workshop on voice acting and the importance of dialect. Her coaching can also be seen on the mainstage of the SC School of the Art's Guys & Dolls with the talented Shelby Parker's portrayal of Adelaide (New York), and the cast of DW Daniel's production of Women of Lockerbie (Scottish). In March 2022, she will return to the mainstage with Centre Stage Theatre in 9 to 5 the Musical as Maria Delgado. She's very proud to represent her Puerto Rican ethnicity on stage for the first time.
